Project Update November 2020

As always it’s been another busy month building Haven so here’s a brief overview of what’s been going on:

v0.16 Codebase Testnet

As part of the preparations to upgrade the codebase to Monero v0.16 we have conducted multiple testnets. These have provided valuable data and feedback to the devs to ensure a smooth fork and subsequent running of the network.

Among other items we have tested the following:

-Load testing for bottleneck analysis

-Band Protocol price feed testing and failover integration/testing

-Implementing improved error messaging from test feedback

-Testing new fee structure (not included in v0.16)

-Other minor UX/UI bugs and improvements

Many thanks to all the community members who have contributed to the testnet and given very useful insights and feedback on everything from error messaging to network load testing.

Final testing is just about complete and all exchanges and mining pools have been notified. We will announce a date for the fork to v0.16 very soon and advise all users of anything that needs to be done in preparation for it.

Knowledge Base

We are currently migrating the knowledge base content across to the website from Gitbook to allow full control/access to keep it updated. It will contain a range of useful resources including vault guides and FAQs. We hope to have this live on the website very soon and will be looking for community input into the content.

User Guides

We will be including new user guides in the knowledge base to help make support more efficient and give users a greater depth of understanding in the way Haven works. The guides will include Web, Desktop and CLI vaults as well as a short ‘how it works’ on Haven transactions.

User Questionnaire

We will shortly be conducting an anonymous user survey to help us understand what features are important to focus development resources on and help form decisions on the direction of the project. No personally identifiable information will be gathered from this and it would be very useful to get as many of the Haven community involved as possible. More details on this soon.

Instaswap integration

As has been previously announced, Haven’s base currency XHV has been integrated into Instaswap giving the network a direct fiat onramp.

It enables anyone to purchase XHV easily and quickly using a wide range of fiat and cryptocurrencies. More details can be found at https://instaswap.io/

Desktop and Web Vault

New versions of the Web and Desktop Vaults are being finished off and tested and will be ready to go online at the time of the v0.16 fork. For the first time the Web Vault will include xUSD conversion and transfer functionality so that users can use Haven on any device including mobile, tablet and computer.

There are several new features and bug fixes including:

-Implementation of sub addresses

-Integration of v0.16 in preparation for codebase upgrade

-Improved error messaging

-Various bug fixes and performance improvements

Whitepaper Translations

We’ve had several offers from community members to carry out document translations for us. So far we have had the Whitepaper translated into Russian, Chinese, Arabic and Spanish.

Versions in Dutch, French and German are being worked on so please feel free to reach out on Discord or Twitter if you’re able to help out with additional languages as it all helps to spread the word.
